MATCHED PAIR of 1950's closely, matched  Sylvania 6SN7 VT-231 JAN. Super high quality -- won't be made to this standard ever again (too costly!) Drop-in compatible replacement for most any circuit calling for glass or metal 6SN7 type tubes.

100% happiness assured on all tubes.  Guaranteed NO DOA. I care, so please message with any questions or for advice. Vintage tubes, in general sound better, and last longer than re-issues from China, Russia or the Eastern Bloc. Other than that, I'm mostly unbiased; there are plenty of  sellers I see here on Reverb doing an OK job -- I have 35 years experience, testing, grading and packing, and I don't take shortcuts and all tubes are checked out multiple times.

Double boxed with reinforced tape -- The best packing anywhere -- Guaranteed Safe Arrival.

This JAN Sylvania, was produced under Military contract during the height of the cold war for critical audio applications. Just about the best grade of 6SN7 to be seen of the era. Comparable in quality to other GE 50's JAN's, RCA Special Red (5692/others) or even Bendix Red Bank (those priceless tubes were needlessly overbuilt for audio uses). The Tung Sol Round Plate is more rare, twice the cost; but we never thought the sound or build quality justified the price.  These Sylvania's sport nice shinny chrome sides, thick mica and very black shinny plates.

Lab Tested on Amplitrex AT1000 showing good, fairly close gain on all sides.
Exhibit B, shows actual tube under test, dynamic emissions at full load for easy reference. Both (2) tubes / read STRONG 100% or more on all (4) sides , with outstanding projected lifespan.

Strong , no gas or shorts. They were carefully checked and played with audio frequency -- for full details please read the reports in  exhibit photos A,B,C,D  for date codes and test results.

Cosmetics are good on these. Original boxes show some tattering and stains frm their many years. One of these has slightly faded ink on it's base but this is very minor.

Just out of 40 year dry storage with old boxes. This pair dates from late 57-58. Special order for the Military, spares supply from low hours or NOS equipment. -- These might be NOS -- However, we extremely conservative.... and sell everything as low hours, always (unless specifically noted) ... They are gorgeous and are super strong; as multiple testers indicate... you be the judge. They will sell quickly; out of stock most everywhere.  Seen selling elsewhere online ...this exact tube for 299/pair --- and then, only when avail, which is not often.

In the old, very worn boxes where they've been stored carefully for years.

Working well; quiet and matched, detailed and sounding great!  Guaranteed no problems.  The most throughly tested, prettiest pair of these you'll will see anywhere!

By the late 1940's just after World War II, companies like RCA, Sylvania, GE and Tung Sol moved to the more rugged and robust, designs for the cold war. As Western Electric's influnence and technological leadership wained moving into the 1950s, large electronics companies like RCA and Sylvania stepped in. Filling in all the gaps, leading in Commercial broadcast, recording and consumer receiving tube development.

The 6SN7 of this type, was born in a short era, just before WWII, and just after wartime production as LokTal types ceased. It's an excellent preamp tube, and if your preamp utilizes the superior large type octal based series of tubes....you are in for a treat!

There are countless variations of the 6Sn7 tube, starting in the late 1930s and moving clear into the 1980s.  These tubes, in many applications sound better than the more common 6Sn7 types. They and more detail, with alot of warmth, but no "fuzziness". If you are currently using modern production types (check your current requirements)... then give these a try -- you'll love them!

If you're currently a user of modern tubes then these will make a world of difference in your sound — a real upgrade and a treat for your ears -- clean, clear and more overall detail you can really hear.

Check my 100% feedback (check over what buyers have to say ... they love these vintage US tubes and I get allot of repeat customers ) ...always fast shipping, and always safe double box packing !!
