A really nice looking pair of Amperex Bugle Boys of the early to mid 1960s. This is a strong pair, production is closely matched, bearing 218 in white ink, and both with the etched date codes from the "delta" Heerlen plant, in Holland.
Amperex pretty much perfected the 6DJ8 with these..used in every critical lab electronic instrument beginning about 60 years ago. If you didn't start of with a set of these early Bugle Boy's -- you're missing out. They are the benchmark of all 6DJ8 / 6922 / ECC83. They're known to be detailed and quite musical -- and tops on quality.
These are out of 40 years' storage, as spares and will be a score if you're looking to upgrade your pream that uses the most excellent dual triode 6Dj8 / 6922! They should be a necessity, really -- and will make for a major upgrade if you are running modern tubes.
Before you chase the white-rabbit of 6Dj8/ 6922 gold pin exotics -- be sure to equip yourself with these most-excellent tubes of the bygone 1960s. If they weren't some of the best, then they would not have been OEM'd of the best laboratry standard devices of the day, the likes of Tek, HP and General Radio to name a few.
The 6Dj8 is a wonderful little dual triode tube for audio uses. Many thanks to our friend Roger Madjestky for popularizing this nearly forgotten design. His preamp from back in the 1980s, the RM-1 was one of the best to this day.
Glass envelope is seamed top, (as is all Amperex) and flashing is very mirror- like.
Tests made on Lab standard, calibrated Amplitrex AT 1000 computer tester.
No microphonics, no noice, super clean and testing strong. Good letters.
Will be carefully packed in old unmarked tube boxes.
Guaranteed to arrive safely, NO DOA.
