Seller Notes: Immaculate condition. Gleaming front horns, made of cast metal (not plastic like newer units). Both have matched Klipsch stamped #'s, same production 1985. Closely matched DCR, sweep test clean, no distortion , close impedance, and sound nice to ear with music (see reports in Exhibit B, C, D) Original Klipsch leads -- perfect for those of you replacing or for spares in your vintage Klipsch 3 way system.

Looking for vintage, high efficiency tweeters? Running tubes or low powered solid state? These are a good choice!

Paul Klipsch thought so back in the late 1950s, as he settled into his bellwether LF,MF and HF componets for the Klipschhorn....and he was always tough to disagree with.  The magical carpentry they executed around these.... some of the finest cabinets produced in audio. Of course, there's a lot to the legacy of what Hope, Arkansas's audio company did for bass reproduction. First with the  Klipschhorn, and later with Belle / LaScala... the systems via folded horns proved remarkable efficient -- then these horn tweeters supplied the needed beautiful high frequency companaionship ... not just any horn tweeter ...they had to be clean and really efficient; ie "super" tweeters.  Jensen's designs weren't tough enough ..or predictably loud enough. Not much in the world could really keep up with EV's T35. The RP-302 which was nothing more than the same diaphragm, with a finely made conical horn -- and a finer, more delicate coil. The RP302 found use in the Jensen Imperial and G610. The RP302, was astounding and can sound like nothing else in the far upper midrange.. It's use didn't persist past the late 1960s and the more robust, reliable T35 carried became america's, if not the world's best proven UHF horn tweeter from there on.   For usage in a 3 way system, most low & mid power audiophiles will be very reliably served by T35 ... or K77's -- so long as they're a good matched pair like these.

Klipsch kept the T35 / K77 horn tweeter in use, nearly it's entire production life of 40 ++ years..early 1950s through the late 80s ..that's how useful and irreplaceable the drivers were! They knew not to go with domes that got popular in the 70s - 80s .. as they're not efficient enough in systems like these.. They knew the T35 was the best on the market, for anything remotely in this price range....and at that they were probably the most costly driver in the Klipschhorn! All through the years, they called out the accuracy of these tweeters, and the smooth response they had.

Little changed during that time, and the Klipsch k77 / EV T-35 tweeters were used in some of the worlds most revered living room systems ...  like the Georgian, and Patrician (both of with harnessed Klipsch's corner horn patent).  And, smaller household rock 'n roller's -- like the sealed Heresy & the tuned / ported Cornwall. EV optionally used the T35 in it's stately and minature 3 ways, like the Aristocrat, tiny, nice sounding folded horn Baronet.

The audiophile aftermarket so respects the K77 ... even though the look is a bit understated, (compared to EV's dressier 1960's-70s brushed counterpart); Still, the K77 graded units routinely change hand a higher value.... why? There may be other reasonn .. mainly though Klipsch had excellent quality control, probably matched up pairs, and rejected fails by the dozens. The phenolic diaphragm must be **precisely** aligned .. or clarity and efficiency, and transient response could suffer. EV's production varied widely and they didn't sell then lab matched, as far as I know.

So... Klipsch, likely engaged in hand testing, selecting and matching them for production use in Klipschorn, La Scala, Heresy, Belle, and Cornwall systems.

Which further leads to why you should strongly consider these. Though they are rugged, well made drivers, it's best not to take any kind of a chance on unknown examples. Buy them checked out carefully... like these (see test impedance & sound reports Exhibit A, B, C) , these ARE tested and matched.

You'll be very happy, as they will run circles around your domes -- many of which are great for upper mids, just not UHF. DiY builders of tube firendly speaker systems needn't search for anything lively-er.  When if comes to pure UHF, it's very hard to beat the T35 / K77 -- in efficiency, and most imortantly smoothness. Great tweeters always add important presence to already good 2 way systems.

These drivers sport large magnets, 1 lb ++ of strong ferrite .. easily the equal guass to the 1960s ALNICO's... And, these are old units, with the better cast METAL horns... The original coils and diapragms tested a near-perfect match (see technician's reports in exhibit A,B,C,D) ... they sound the same and were verified with a 20-20K impedance response sweep (exhibit B,C,D), where these original 8 ohm coils are matched well, reading a solid approx 6 ohm DCR, until their response peaks in the 5k to 12k region (see full test reports). As you can see in the charts.

Tested with music, these sounded, crisp, clean and distortion free -- with music at loud volume. No rattles or buzzes. Great sounding units!

They are in immaculate condition. Gleaming front rings with still shinny, crisp, clean paint on the horn. Both have matched Klipsch stamps, and original Klipsch leads -- perfect for those of you replacing or for spares in your vintage Klipsch 3 way system.  They look beautiful and present almost as NEW..just as they were directly removed from a working 1980s era cabinet.

It's such a nice, matching #s pair of K-77.

These older K-77's are known to sound nice ... and will sell quickly.

The most throughly tested and original set you will see anywhere.

These will sell quick …See my 100% feedback on all audio items.

Buy now, to avoid a costly bidder's war. Nice original early units are never in stock long!

It's smart to buy old, original units because earlier diaphragms do sound better than many of the later designs, models & replacements are no longer made.  These are some of the better sounding tweeters, and certainly about the most reliable you can own.

Great for your low wattage, SE or PP tube amplifier, they match well in many systems.

Packed weight in secure double box is 6lbs. Guaranteed safe arrival, all 100% happy customers. Fast shipping in double-box with tracking # in email.
